Description
An orientalis form selected originally for its very dark purple flower and then subsequently cloned, by division only.
This really is a fabulous, deep, dark clone (these are vegetative divisions of the original and not seed-raised plants) with flowers that look as if they have been sculpted from deep purple velvet. The flowers are overlaid with a nice “waxy glow”, which is missing in all of the other dark-flowered hybrids that we have seen.
The inside of the flower is a little paler contrasted with lovely, chrome-yellow stamens.
The parent plant was originally received from Blooms of Bressingham in 1976.
