Description
The name is used for two totally different clones in Japan/ One is a single form of H. pubescens, we offer here the double form, of H. japonica with its exquisite colouring.
The six or seven outer petals are broad, overlapping and deep cherry red. The centre of the flower is also cherry red and is composed of many circles of smaller petals, arranged in tight whorls on top of one another. Towards the centre of the flower these have a small, white base, where the pigment has not yet developed (it does so with maturity). The very centre of the flower appears to be red again, where the backs of the petals are more visible than the paler insides. Floral perfection in miniature.
