Description

Botanists seem unsure if this belongs in Hyacinthus at all, but it is tabrizianus whatever the genus!

The leaves are at most 5 mm across below a 1-2 cm spike of 4 mm flowers, which are white, shaded at the tips with an electric turquoise blue.

The bulbs, like the plants and flowers, are very small, but this is an enchanting little elfin species, for a pot, trough or bulb frame. It will grow perfectly well in the open garden but it could be wasted unless the spot was right to show it off.

Originally from Tabriz, in Iran, introduced by the BSBE expedition of many years ago, but now happily established in cultivation.
