Description
Some years, if we are lucky, we have a handful of these gorgeous lilies available. These are seed-raised progeny from our 1987 collection made amongst roadworks/ road-rebuilding on Mount Parnassus in Greece.
Superb silver frosted leaves topped by thickly textured, sealing-wax red flowers in June and July. Despite their very obvious appeal, they are perhaps not the best species for beginners as they can be prone to unexpected ills which need prevention or early observation and treatment if they are to stay a reasonable size and healthy. They do need very good drainage and not too much water during their winter dormancy.
Though this species does not make the largest bulbs in the Lily world, these are nice, flowering-sized, cultivated bulbs, and are genuine, traceable material raised from seed in cultivation.
