Description

Short stems, just 15-20 cm high, with disproportionately large, lemon-peel-yellow flowers each with long twisted segments, initially joined at the tips as the buds open, thus they look like little lanterns.

Not difficult to grow but very slow from seed, and infuriatingly these germinate within the green pod in our climate – you have to be on alert to get this one harvested and sown in time!

Likes cool, damp peaty conditions but very good drainage and a winter which is cold and distinctly on the dry side. It also starts into growth very early in the spring in our climate we find.

A lovely dwarf Lily which should be better known, especially in view of its strong but light fragrance of lemons.
