Description
(syn. Leopoldia caucasica)
Yellowish, tubular fertile flowers are tightly packed into the lower part of a long, dense spike. The individual flowers are tinted with rosy-purple at the mouth, but the teeth are the same restrained golden yellow as the flowers.
Higher up the spike the tassel of sterile flowers is an intense violet, as are the developing buds and flowers.
Sunny well drained spot in loam soil with a dry summer rest and not too much disturbance.
I have classically thought of this species as coming from Iran, however this stock is propagated from LST 348, Turkey, Malatya, 600m
