Description

(syn. Muscari pseudomuscari, Pseudomuscari chalusicum)

Gorgeous bright-blue to turquoise flowers, each shaped like a little hand-bell. Each individual flower flares at the mouth, being bell-shaped rather than being pinched in, a seemingly small feature but one that makes a large difference to its appearance. Flowering is early and this is often finished when other species are just starting to open. It is perfectly hardy outside but if potted and grown under alpine glass this will flower from January onwards, in the garden it flowers here in March.

Easy in a sunny well-drained soil but regrettably (as it really is such a lovely thing) not prone to rapid increase though it will gently self seed sometimes.

Raised from our own, closed-pollinated seed, from a horticultural stock that is now verified and directly traceable to Paul Furse’s  1960s original introductions from the Chalus gorge in Iran.
