Description

(Pseudomuscari coeleste)

This has intense turquoise-green buds which open to reveal expanded flowers in a beautiful shade of turquoise, with thin deep blue lines along the petals.  The flowers are proper bells and are not-constricted or pinched at the mouth.  These are held in a densely packed raceme. Flowering is very early in the year and the first buds are usually evident here in January with flowering starting in February and continuing through March.

This is naturally a small plant and thus it is ideal for a pan or pot, as it reaches only some 8-10 cm tall, even when in flower. Sunny gritty soil. Originally found in Southern Cappadocia, Turkey. This is clearly related to M. chalusicum from Iran but it is considerably smaller and more compact in habit, as you can see in one of our gallery pictures. The strain that we grow is consistently a slightly paler, more turquoise blue than our M. chalusicum.
