Tall spikes of greenish-yellow, purple-tipped fertile flowers crowned by a tassel of long-stemmed glowing purple infertile flowers.
This spectacular plant is one of the larger species that there is (exceeded only by M. neumannii); its raceme can be 50cm long, on a plant 80cm tall, please re-read those figures!
