Flowering sized bulbs.

Description

This has long spikes of deep black-violet flowers similar to, but distinct from, the related commutatum. It can be distinguished easily as inconstrictum lacks the apically constricted (“pinched”) blooms of the latter and instead makes a more open, bell-shaped flower.

Happy in a well-drained, loam-based compost with decent drainage and good light. Incidentally, vegetative increase is negligible, this one sits alone, increasing slowly in size (with few or no offsets being made) until it makes a magnificent plant.

Stock of West Syrian origins, very distinct from other forms of the same species, such as that from Cyprus and this stock is true to name, in a genus where misnaming is rife.
