Description
A gorgeous pale pink Muscari of the most delicate colouring imaginable. The pink colour is said to develop best in acid soil and in cool conditions, but we have seen little evidence of this and the pink, which is anyway always a very pale blue-pink, displays well most years. The top of the spike is almost white and the upper few flowers can often be sterile, in the manner of many other related species. Robust of growth, but never rampant, a delightful new addition to our range.
This was originally received by Antoine Hoog from Erich Pasche of Velbert, in 2008. In turn it was selected by Mr. Augis Dombrauskas in Latvia from a stock of Muscari White Beauty. The name applied by the original raiser was Rosy Sunrise, and this is what our stock is. If this is the same plant as others bearing the name of Pink Sunrise, then “Rosy Sunrise” will take precedence as the first published name, however the origins of Pink Sunrise have never been clear with several versions of its history being offered and indeed several pink forms seem to have appeared in horticulture around the same time (Early Rose being yet another one).
