Description

(syn. juncifolius, requienii)

Superb, fragrant, lemon-peel yellow petals with a slightly darker cup, all on 15 cm tall stems. Very slender. rush-like, dark green leaves accompany the flowers, which are produced here in the latter days of February and onwards to late March.

This prefers a well-drained, limey, sunny spot where it will charm you with its vivid yellow, elfin flowers early in the spring and a delicious sweet scent on warm days, or upon close proximity when cooler. It also thrives under alpine glass, potted in a fertile, well-drained, loam-based compost or outside in a plunge frame in a similar compost, which is best if loam-based, with good drainage and fertility.
