Description

Narcissus broussonetii is an unusual Autumn flowering Narcissus species with attractive, pale silvery-grey leaves and spikes of several white flowers in October.

These are very pleasantly spice-scented and have broad petals but virtually no trumpet. It is thought to be one of the more primitive species, showing the first evolutionary development of the trumpet structure, formed from the swollen bases of the anther filaments!

Widely regarded as tender in the UK however we have heard of at least one grower having success with this outside at the base of a south facing wall in SE UK. For safety we over-winter this under cold (unheated) glass. Dry in the summer, though not “baked”. Good in a pot, planted in a glasshouse or planted outside with our “Mediterranean” customers.
