Description

A lovely plant, from the high Pyrenees. The petals are white to soft sulphur with a deep yellow stain that infuses from the base of the equally deep yellow tube. This excellent colouring carries on, right back to the ovary.

The species is reputed to attain 50cm in the wild, however in gardens you must expect substantially less than this and 25cm is more the norm. The flowers are the same (large) size, regardless of the plant’s height.

Raised from bulbs gifted to me many years ago by the late Frank Waley of Sevenoaks, Kent from his wonderful garden ‘Wavertree’.
