Description
The name for this offering is, frankly, a little confused. The original seed came labelled as pardanthina, but now the survovors have finally flowered they do not accord with pardanthina as I know it. In checking identities I find that some much of the naming of Nomocharis is in flux and that the same plants are being described under several different names, with each “expert” convinced of the legitimacy of their reasoning and naming.
Our plants match best of all to what I know as forrestii and we offer it under that name, with the caveat that it may not be someone else’s forrestii! If this is likely to upset you, then please avoid it. However, regardless of the exact name, if you do decide again purchase then you will miss out an an amazingly vigorous and beautiful species, with pale, shell-pink flowers, spotted and zoned in the centre with deeper purple. There is some variability within the species however and we have seen some plants with deeper pink flowers and more spotting, labelled as this species (but see above)!
This is a very vigorous plant and amazingly the flowers are borne on stems that can eventually reach 200cm in height, making it the tallest Nomocharis that we know.
