Description
An unusual species from Kashmir. This is TOTALLY unlike the Chinese species, in that it is winter-growing and summer dormant, on a Mediterranean cycle, flowering in spring. It can however be safely moved over summer but not at the same time as the others.
It needs to be treated as a Crocus or Fritillaria to achieve success. This comes in the form of sumptuous 90 cm tall spikes of pale satin-pink trumpets each 7-8 cm long in a long spike.
This likes sun, in a south-facing site with good drainage and a rich soil. Plant at least 10 cm deep and grow on to flowering in situ for best results. Shallow planting or pot-growth will promote increase at the expense of bulb size.
