Paeonia obovata Pink

£36.00

An increasingly scarce item. These are seed-grown, from wild seed. They are 5-6 year old rhizomes, with one main shoot. They are maybe a season from flowering.

Description

Large lobed, blue-tinged, green leaves backed with red below. Each leaflet is held on a red, or red-stained petiole. These growths are topped by open pale to dark pink goblets with the central boss stained red in the centre of the yellow anthers.

Ours are cultivated nursery stock, traceable to seed gathered in Hokkaido, Japan. In this area the populations are mostly a good deep shade of pink. The plants are raised in horticulture and are not Chinese imports and they are true to name!

Readily grown but this does appreciate some shade.
