Description
The stems of this species vary from 20-50 cm tall, with a whorl of up to 8 narrow leaves each on a short red stem.
A stem only slightly longer, holds the bloom upright above the leaves. The flowers have five narrow green-brown sepals whilst the petals vary from green with purple centres to purple or oxblood red, all with the tips drawn out, as if pulled whilst liquid!
In the centre of the flower 10-12 stamens in brown and six styles in purple complete the bloom. One of the few non-green Paris and very attractive.
Plant in a humus-rich but well drained soil, out of the wind and too much direct sun and then be patient as, like most Paris, this takes a year or more to root, settle, leaf and flower.
