(Egmont x Keith Rattray)
This replaces Pleione Askia Cinnabar listed in our paper catalogue
A very desirable Pleione from complex breeding* undertaken by Ian Butterfield, the grex was registered in 1998. The result is stunning with a well-formed flower of a deep crimson-pink, with just a touch of gold at the petal tips to add contrast. This selected clone from the wider cross (the grex) chosen for the red of its tepals, it is both new and scarce.
The lip is a strong golden yellow inside (red externally) marked and blotched with deep crimson-red around pronounced golden fills. This can often bear two flowers per stem.
* the parentage involves several hybrids and so when broken down it is actually
(pleionoides x (formosana x (albiflora x forrestii))) X (formosana x (albiflora x forrestii)) x (formosana x limprichtii)
NOT available for Japan, Norway, Switzerland, U.S.A. etc.
Pleione are no longer shipped outside of the UK and EU.
