Description

(multiflorum x odoratum)

An old garden perennial long called “multiflorum” but in fact it is a hybrid containing half multiflorum and half odoratum!

It is a tough plant which reliably thrives even in the harshest of conditions, reliably making 60 cm somewhat angular stems clothed along their length in broad, slightly hairy leaves. In each leaf axil hang quite large, well-scented, pearl-earring flowers of white, tipped with green. The lovely scent is very strong in warm, still conditions and can be detected some way away.

Light or part shade is best as is a humus-rich soil, but it will take it drier and brighter and remain unfazed.
