Description
(syn. orientale)
Leathery oval leaves alternate up the slightly bristly stem with dangling white pearl-drops tipped in chartreuse. The flowers are constricted near the base. This species notably has clusters of up to four flowers and short inter-nodes, which means that the flowers are all displayed close together, hence the name ‘polyanthemum‘ which means many-flowered.
A dependable 20-35 cm garden plant making an attractive show in any soil. Propagated from a Furse and Synge collection, originally made in the Elburz Mountains of Iran at 1,800 m, Oct 1977 and still going strong.
