The easiest and perhaps the best species for outdoor growth in the garden with 2-3 cm long tubular flowers of lovely blue-violet with a white and yellow throat, held on a short wiry stem above very narrow wiry leaves.
This is a new, cultivated stock, originally selected from Apulia, Italy. It is a nice form with large, well-coloured flowers.
