Description
Bright orange-yellow flowers which are backed in burnished broze are made very early in the year.
A glorious, but remarkably little-known, South African species of very easy culture. This should be in a well-drained, loam-based compost under glass as the plant is probably not quite hardy in the wet, cold winters of the UK. This is significant as the plant is very early flowering, usually in early February here, sometime in late January. It may linger until March in colder years.
In a recent trial here of 10 Romulea that were previously unknown to me, this is the one that excelled in germination, growth and flowering.
Introduced to our lists April 2018.
