Description
Our stock is of a smaller flowered form of the species from Greece and Crete. This makes up for any slight lack of size in the sheer intensity of the deeply coloured, rich purple flowers and purple filaments which contrast beautifully with the yellow anthers, held in the centre of the small funnels. The throat that surrounds these anthers, is a deeper shade again making this our darkest coloured Romulea.
Easily grown, treated as a Crocus, under alpine glass (or perhaps in a sunny raised bed) in a loam-based, gritty compost with good drainage and a dry summer rest. The small size of the corms means that a lot can be packed into a small space for a lovely display.
