Description

(Fessia)

This starts growth in early autumn and remains wintergreen using this stratagem to flower early, making 24 cm long spikes of hanging, reflexed bright blue bells.

Sometimes confused with Scilla hohenackeri but differing in several ways, of which the earlier leaf appearance and longer leaves are easy to remember and use.

Native to Iran in lightly shaded woodland areas that are home to so many good garden plants. To mimic this , light shade is best with a dry summer rest.
