Introduced by Messrs. Barr in 1890. Noteworthy for the very good colour, which is far brighter than ordinary S. siberica, and its earlier flowers. Up to seven flowers of vivid, french-blue with dark midribs are borne on each scape, but each bulb can form up to 5 scapes.
