Description

An unusual species in that it occurs both in Asia and North America, but almost as unusual in that it is very seldom seen! A slender creeping rhizome makes between 2 and 4 leaves only, on a dwarf stem that is topped by up to 12 flowers, each on a tiny, thread-like stem. The blooms are pure white but have tiny blue anthers and then these are followed by red berries that are very large for the size of the plant.

Light woodland soil is ideal.
