Description
A gorgeous, intensely yellow to yellow-orange species from Turkey and Israel, which flowers bare, or with slightly developed leaves in Autumn. The flowers are chalice shaped and appear through the ground on short stalks, which elongate after the blooms open.
Very valuable for the intensity of colouring, but this is one of the few plants that really does appreciate a hot, dry summer bake In the ground to make it flower well.
Lots of feeding when it is in growth will build large bulbs and the species can make huge bulbs (for the genus) given time.
