Description

This is raised here from a stock first found on Crete many years ago, indeed even before the status and names of the various species had been worked out (and of course it has, depending on your opinion, changed again since)! A good strain for gardens flowering from bulbs which are smaller than most of the named strains. This is not a clonal plant though this is no way detracts from what is a lovely, dependable, chrome-yellow-flowered early Autumn bulb.

Does well in a sunny, well-drained spot with a warm, dry summer rest. As with some other species and forms, planting at the base of a south-facing wall is a classic suggestion and is an ideal place to put them to ensure flowering.
