Description
This is a lovely vigorous stock making good-sized, white flowers which have broad, slightly recurving petals. This lovely Trillium is slightly fragrant and has a very characteristic purple spot on the ovary, typical of this species and unique to Trillium camschatcense (though a similar mark does sometimes display in some specimens of the N. American Trillium flexipes).
This is probably the showiest of the Asian Trillium for garden use and in this form, it is the largest. It is widespread across N. Japan and several Japanese Islands and it also occurs on the Chinese mainland and in adjacent Russia (Kamchatka).
These are seed-raised and so will exhibit some slight variation within the description. From a vigorous stock traceable originally to woodlands above Kamishihoro, Tokachi Subprefecture, Hokkaido in Japan.
