Description

This is a lovely vigorous stock making good-sized, white flowers which have broad, slightly recurving petals. This lovely Trillium is slightly fragrant and has a very characteristic purple spot on the ovary, typical of this species and unique to Trillium camschatcense (though a similar mark does sometimes display in some specimens of the N. American Trillium flexipes).

This is probably the showiest of the Asian Trillium for garden use and in this form, it is the largest. It is widespread across Northern Japan and several of the northerly Japanese Islands and it also occurs on the Chinese mainland and in adjacent Russia (Kamchatka). Unbeknown to us, it also grows over the Chinese border in mountain woodlands in North Korea,  in what is a logical extension of its geographical range when you look at a map. This small stock is raised from N. Korean plants.
