Description
This stock is raised from plants first found in mountain woodlands on the northernmost main Japanese island of Hokkaido.
We have kept the stocks distinct as they are different in very subtle ways. Though the obvious initial difference is the frequent lack of the small, purple marks on the tips of the ovaries, (which do occur in the Aomori stock).
The leaves of the Sapphoro plants are, on the whole, a little wider and they tend to overlap more, the flower petals are broader but shorter. There is however variation in both stocks and the differences are trends not absolutes, so there is overlap.
