Description
This has naturally small bulbs with curiously attractive olive and green flowers (with a touch of black) in a miniature spike. The flowers have a long tube flaring open at the end into six petals which reflex widely – there is little else like it, except other Tristagma.
This is a high mountain plant, so alpine house pot is best though it will grow outside in a trough or alpine scree since this miniature tiny Chilean snowmelt species is totally hardy, with us anyway. One of our (delighted) US customers reports that he “planted it outside, in sand, near my house foundation and it survived at least 10ºF“.
