Description

Paired, sage-green, glaucous, curled leaves with an open, spidery ball of white and purple-red flowers each with narrow petals and a wonderfully spidery appearance. There is a lovely contrast with the orange-pink anthers

This is a very good species for the alpine house in a small, plunged pot, but it is fully cold-hardy and can be grown outside in a favourable spot with good drainage in full sun, preferably in a loam-based soil or compost, where it will not become overgrown by surrounding vegetation. Dry in summer, no matter where or how you grow it.
