Description

A sibling of Cock-of-the-Rock and some other peloric forms, this gorgeous plant has short growths and dense spikes of good-sized, bright mid-pink, salmon infused flowers each of which has two lips, the upper petals having been replaced by a second lip. The structure is totally unlike almost all other Corydalis. The inside of the lip, at the mouth, is thinly lined with white. The wide open mouth of the flower is reminiscent of its namesake bird, especially a hungry chick.

The back of the flower in Corydalis usually has a single spur, in this intriguing form, each of the two lips has a spur of its own, thus the flower has two and as such is reminiscent of some Dicentra species in its structure.

Very distinct and even the beginner could spot that something is different, without perhaps knowing why. Readily grown and makes strong growths with lots of flowers and good increase as well.
