Crocus veluchensis Woodland form

Flowering sized corms.

Despatched September to October

Description

Though Crocus veluchensis is usually thought of as a plant of open alpine grasslands and meadows this strain has been raised from plants which are found at slightly lower altitudes and under the shade of oaks. Like our other strains, this one is both growable and reliable though it looks very different in flower as it lacks any darkening towards the petal tips though it is darker towards and into the tube.

It has larger, particularly well-coloured, violet-purple flowers, lacking any trace of yellow in the throat – as is normal for the species. Moist, humus rich soil, not drying in the summer for best results.

Research has revealed that this stock was raised in Europe from the same seed as our JJA JJA.354.002 stock and so this “woodland form” has been discontinued.

There is no waitlist available for this “woodland form”, instead please check our JJA.354.002 stock
