Description

Lovely flat-faced pale pink to reddish-brick flowers with a darker central disc in the middle. The flowers are often chequered but this is not as intense as e.g. meleagris, and the checks are larger, more widely spaced and much more diffuse.

A superb and very rare central Asian species that we are only able to offer now and again.

This is best grown in a bulb frame or carefully managed pot under frost-free glass (it is hardy but like all Fritillaria, it dislikes having its bulbs actually frozen, as might happen under cold glass). It likes a very well-drained compost, a cold, but dryish, winter and then lots of sun when it emerges.
