Description

Although recent treatments of the genus Galanthus regard this as a synonym of G. lagodechianus we are playing safe and keeping the two separate. It behaves totally differently here and is an excellent garden plant, not breaking up to bulblets and also flowering regularly.

Our original Czechoslovakian source (it was still one country when we first got these) knew the plant well and considered it very different to lagodechianus and we are following his lead and field knowledge. You have only to look at a genus like Pleione to see how generation after generation of ‘expert’ botanists can get name changes completely and utterly wrong.

Strong, white flowers with good petal texture and small V-shaped, green tips to the inner segments held over narrow, flat foliage of oily mid-green. Flowering is from early Feb onwards here.

This is clonal material, raised here, from a single bulb acquired many years ago, from the late Vladimir Vasak and patiently increased.
