Description
A comparatively new clone, selected from G. elwesii , this has a very strong and well defined, almost rectangular green mark on the inner segments. The outers have an ephemeral green staining towards their tips. This rather nice feature consists of greening of the petal veins with the pigmentation spreading sideways into the green zone of the next vein. It can sometimes (depending on the age of the flower) be faint but it is always discernible.
As with most of the other green-tipped elwesii seedlings which we have raised here, the intensity of the green colouration does vary massively from year to year, based on transplanting, disturbance, feeding, spring temperatures and, seemingly, which way the wind blows. The presence of this ‘greenishing’ is constant, its intensity is not.
