Description

A lovely, selected clonal plant with strong, broad, very glaucous leaves which are noticeably short at flowering and which always have a prominent folded (plicate)edge.

Above sit chunky white flowers with thick textured petals and an inner tube bearing just one, deep-green, very crisp and well-defined mark, shaped like a short ‘Apache-scarf’, towards the apex.

This is  almost the last Galanthus to flower here. It is late to emerge and is only forming buds as most other species are going past flowering. After the icy winter of 2013, its first flower opened on April 8th and these did not fade until late April, the last flower finally passing the finishing line in the opening days of May, when 99% of our other snowdrops had long finished. In a more average year, we usually still see flowers in mid-April. An excellent garden plant, useful for extending the flowering season. Unlike so many plicatus forms, this is notable for its strong growth and eagerness to both grow and survive!
