Description
Oumei in Japanese is ‘Royalty’ and this clone is certainly that. It has a well packed outer whorl with up to nine, broad petals of good mid-pink, these have a slightly paler midrib and some lovely, delicate feathering within the colouring.
A crown siting in the middle is composed of petalloid anthers which are broad and yellow-green, edged with the same pink of the outer petals. The contrast of the two, whilst sympathetically coloured, also serves to outline and mark out the inner whorl, which goes from an almost gold appearance, to silver in the very centre, where the pigment has yet to develop in the unfurling knot of petals. In time, a few of the oldest petals in the inner whorl, elongate and curl a little.
Oumei is new and is a real beauty, introduced to our lists only in 2016.
