Description

Yellow and red form

An excellent clonal red and yellow selection within a superb and rare species of Asarum which is very rarely seen.

The flowers on this form are basically ruby red and golden yellow, the yellow being the colour of the very thickly-textured richly petals (dotted and speckled with red towards the edges and tips) and the exterior of the connecting tube, which is set around a deeply carrunculated ruby-red throat. There is simply nothing else like this. The flowers sit at ground level, in spring, below the remains of the previous season’s foliage, which is replaced soon after by new growth.

Not difficult under standard conditions for the genus, in a well -drained but humus-rich, fertile compost in part shade. However this is also happy grown under alpine glass if you prefer.
