Description

This has very good, very well patterned and strongly contrasted leaves which are zoned with silver and sage over a dark, bottle-green base colour.

The flowers are simply amazing, in that the inner ridges, around the throat have become petalloid and so you have a fantastic, doubled Asarum flower, but one with three, distinct extra petalloid structure all contained within the major petals in a triangular formation. It’s very, very different, not for everyone perhaps and though I like it cannot look at this in flower and not think of an ear!

The flowers are purple, brown and bronze, subtly shading from one to the other across the petal surfaces. Purple petioles to the leaves, complete the transition from the purple-browns of the flower to the greens of the foliage.

These double forms are scare and esteemed in Japan and it is many years since we were able to obtain and offer them.
