Description

(blumei, nankaiense)

A new plant from Japan with patterned, silvered, clouded and silver-splashed leaves which in their best forms are tremendously decorative and beautiful. Our stock is the form nankaiense which was described by Maekawa in 1932 (Bot. Mag. (Tokyo) 46: 572 1932) and which is is accepted as a full species in The Plantlist.

The flowers in this stock are the deep purple to purple-brown of the typical species and the flowers are very thick-textured and waxy with the tips of the petals just folded back a little and the edges of the petals outlined with the thinnest gold line.

Easy under typical conditions for the species and this is considered one of the hardiest species despite being a winter-blooming species.
